Product Description - Tulip Red Ranger
The Tulipa 'Red Ranger' is a bold, powerful, and remarkably vivid variety from the prestigious Triumph class. It embodies the flawless standards of classic Dutch tulips through its monumental form and pure, uncompromising color. Its goblets have a strict geometric shape, made up of dense, satiny petals that hold their form beautifully, opening slowly and resisting both direct sun and May winds. The rich red color radiates a deep, noble glow that instantly draws the eye from anywhere in the garden.
This medium-height, vigorous plant grows to 45–50 cm, with thick, rigid, perfectly upright stems that gracefully support the large, fiery blooms without bending under rain. The broad, blue-green foliage, with a light matte waxy finish, wraps closely around the stem, creating a striking graphic contrast for the vivid flowers.
Renowned for its resilience, 'Red Ranger' is one of the hardiest and most weather-tolerant Triumph varieties, standing up well to spring rain and wind while showing strong resistance to viral diseases, including tulip breaking virus. In the garden, this cheerful red variety is an essential tool for creating dense, bold blocks of color in borders, beds, and formal plantings. It looks most striking in group plantings of 15–20 bulbs against a well-kept green lawn, conifers, or ornamental foliage perennials. Thanks to its pure palette, 'Red Ranger' pairs beautifully with dazzling white, soft pink, or lemon-yellow tulips (such as the variety Jan van Nes), creating classic spring duets, as well as with white daffodils and blue grape hyacinths. Sturdy stems, excellent transport durability, and an impressive vase life of up to 10–14 days make this variety a favorite for cutting, commercial forcing for spring holidays, and elegant floral arrangements.

How to Plant - Tulip Red Ranger
Planting & Care Instructions
Tulips are hardy spring-flowering bulbs ideal for garden beds, borders, pots and balcony boxes. For the best flowering results, choose a suitable location and follow the recommended planting depth for each tulip type.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, before the ground becomes deeply frozen. Flowering time varies by type and variety, generally from March to May.
- Position & soil: Choose a sunny position or partial shade. Plant in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
- Planting depth & spacing: Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards. For standard garden tulips, size 11/12 cm, plant approximately 10–15 cm deep and 10–12 cm apart. For botanical tulips, size 6/8 cm, plant approximately 8–10 cm deep and 8–10 cm apart.
- Watering: Water moderately after planting, especially when the soil is dry. Additional watering during autumn is usually unnecessary. Avoid waterlogged soil.
- Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a well-drained potting mix. Bulbs can be planted slightly closer together than in garden beds.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but allow the foliage to remain until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Botanical tulips are particularly suitable for naturalising and can multiply and flower for many years when conditions are suitable. Garden tulips may also return in following seasons, although flowering performance depends on the variety and growing conditions.
