Tulip Sylvestris
Tulip Sylvestris - flower bulbs and perennial plants from Holland
Product Description - Tulip Sylvestris
A rare species of tulip, Sylvestris, turns spring into a fairytale season. Dark green tentacles seem to peek out from the ground. The spring "octopuses" stretch upwards, sometimes twisting and taking on wavy shapes. The leaves are much thinner than those of other tulip varieties. The flowering will also be unusual. The bulb produces a thin green-pink stem. Its height is 40-60 cm. Yellow buds open on the peduncles in April. The flowers are large, pulling the stem down. Creating a semi-arc in tandem with the stem, the Sylvestris tulip outshines everything around it.
From a distance, this early plant looks like a large snowdrop. However, on closer inspection, everything suggests the opposite. The tulip is endowed with a fragrance that is clearly audible in the vicinity. The buds of the variety are large, up to 6-10 cm in diameter. The yellow petals can change position, changing the mood of the garden.
In sunny areas, the buds open fully, turning into yellow stars. In partial shade, as well as in cloudy weather, the glasses are almost closed. Another interesting feature is the outwardly curled edges of the petals. Flowering lasts about 20-22 days.
- Plant height: 40-60 cm
- Flowering period: April-May
- Flower diameter: 6-10 cm
- Colour: yellow
The early bulbous plant takes root well and is not afraid of pests. Like other tulips, the variety can be threatened by rot, so it is important to avoid stagnant water and choose flat areas. Mandatory care for this rare type of tulip is watering and fertilising at the root.
