Product Description - Tulip Violetta
The Tulipa 'Violetta' is a sophisticated and charismatic miniature variety that captivates with its natural grace, joyful colors, and striking graphic contrast. As a botanical tulip, it is prized for its dynamic nature: in the morning or on cloudy days, the buds appear as neat, elongated lilac-pink goblets. When kissed by the spring sun, however, the pointed petals unfurl wide to reveal a stunning interior—a large, clearly defined dark blue or coal-black eye with contrasting yellow stamens at the very center.
Standing at a compact 20–25 cm with slender, resilient stems and grass-like foliage, 'Violetta' is the perfect ""living star"" for the spring landscape. This variety is exceptionally hardy, low-maintenance, and—best of all—does not require annual lifting, allowing it to naturalize into dense, colorful carpets over the years. It is an ideal choice for rockeries, alpine gardens, front borders, or as a vibrant container display on your terrace or patio.

How to Plant - Tulip Violetta
Planting & Care Instructions
Tulips are hardy spring-flowering bulbs ideal for garden beds, borders, pots and balcony boxes. For the best flowering results, choose a suitable location and follow the recommended planting depth for each tulip type.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs in autumn, from September to December, before the ground becomes deeply frozen. Flowering time varies by type and variety, generally from March to May.
- Position & soil: Choose a sunny position or partial shade. Plant in loose, fertile and well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
- Planting depth & spacing: Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards. For standard garden tulips, size 11/12 cm, plant approximately 10–15 cm deep and 10–12 cm apart. For botanical tulips, size 6/8 cm, plant approximately 8–10 cm deep and 8–10 cm apart.
- Watering: Water moderately after planting, especially when the soil is dry. Additional watering during autumn is usually unnecessary. Avoid waterlogged soil.
- Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a well-drained potting mix. Bulbs can be planted slightly closer together than in garden beds.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers, but allow the foliage to remain until it naturally turns yellow and dies back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the following season.
- Returning each year: Botanical tulips are particularly suitable for naturalising and can multiply and flower for many years when conditions are suitable. Garden tulips may also return in following seasons, although flowering performance depends on the variety and growing conditions.
