Guide and tips for planting Calla Lily Bulbs (Zantedeschia)

• Choose the planting location: Calla Lilies prefer partial shade to full sun and well-drained soil. Avoid planting in areas with standing water or where the soil remains soggy after rainfall.

• Prepare the soil: Loosen the soil and remove any weeds or debris from the planting area. Amend the soil with compost or organic matter to improve the soil's fertility and drainage.

• Plant the bulbs: Dig a hole that is about 8-12 cm deep and place the Calla Lily bulb with the pointed end facing up. Space the bulbs about 24-42 cm apart.

• Cover the bulbs: Cover the Calla Lily bulb with soil and gently press down to remove air pockets. Make sure the soil level is even with the surrounding soil.

• Water the bulbs: Give the bulbs a thorough watering after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs. Calla Lilies prefer consistently moist soil, so water them regularly, but avoid over-watering as this can cause rot.

• Mulch the area: Add a layer of organic mulch around the bulbs to help retain moisture and suppress weed growth. Keep the mulch a few inches away from the base of the bulbs to prevent rot.

• Monitor the bulbs: Calla Lily bulbs typically take about 2-3 weeks to emerge from the soil, so be patient. Once they emerge, water and fertilize regularly to encourage healthy growth. Calla Lilies can bloom in late spring to early summer and may require occasional fertilization throughout the growing season.
