Canna ‘Cleopatra’ is a truly unusual, tropical-style garden canna known for its dramatic bicolour effect: flowers may appear yellow with red speckles, red with yellow markings, or a mix of both on the same plant. This unpredictable “painted” look makes it an outstanding focal plant for exotic borders and large patio containers, especially when paired with solid-colour companions that highlight the multicoloured blooms. Its bold foliage adds strong structure and keeps the plant decorative all season. ‘Cleopatra’ is ideal when you want a canna that looks different from standard single-colour varieties.
The plant grows to a height of about 100 cm (39 inches) and produces showy bicolour flowers with a diameter of 5–10 cm in vivid red and yellow tones (often speckled or irregularly marked). Its bright blooms rise above broad, ornamental foliage, making it perfect for large pots and tubs, sunny patio displays, and bold back-of-border planting in warm-season beds where you want a strong tropical accent. Flowering typically runs from summer into autumn, and ‘Cleopatra’ performs best in full sun in fertile, well-drained soil kept consistently moist, with regular feeding through the growing season.
