The beautiful and eye-catching canna Tenerife is planted outdoors in early June. In nice sunny spots and places where it won't be exposed to strong gusts of wind or draughts. Tenerife can also be cultivated as a houseplant but it needs warmth and light - in shaded areas Tenerife will not flower.
Regular watering should be provided for full flowering and the soil should not be allowed to dry out. Before the onset of cold weather, dig up the rhizomes and store them in a well-ventilated dark room in sand or peat, drying out the roots beforehand.
