Product Description - Oncidium (Orchid) Joost

Oncidium (Orchid) Joost
  • Plant height: 50-60 cm
  • Flower diameter: 5-6 cm
  • Duration of flowering: 4-5 weeks
  • Color of flowers: yellow

The Oncidium Joost hybrid orchid will delight you with yellow butterflies of large buds in the first year after planting. This is a natural plant, which, with well-chosen care, can bloom twice a year for 1.5-2 months. A light windowsill with a southern or western orientation is suitable for growing. Soft green leaves are an indicator of sufficient sunlight. Average daily temperatures are also crucial for good flowering. They should be at least 15 degrees in winter and no more than 30 degrees in summer.

The transplant is performed in a wide opaque pot with a new substrate; most often, it will be needed only 2-3 years after purchase. For planting, choose a particular soil composition for orchids, placing it only on the bottom of the pot and leaving pseudobulbs on the surface. Watering is carried out as the substrate dries completely by immersing the pool in a water container.

How to Plant - Oncidium (Orchid) Joost

Guide and tips for orchids

  • Choose the right pot: Orchids prefer to grow in pots that are just slightly larger than their root system. Choose a pot with good drainage holes that is made of a material that allows air to circulate around the roots, such as terracotta or clay.

  • Choose the right potting mix: Orchids require a well-draining potting mix that is specifically designed for them. The mix should contain a blend of materials such as bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite.

  • Prepare the potting mix: Soak the potting mix in water for at least an hour to ensure it is evenly moist. Allow it to drain before planting the orchid.

  • Plant the orchid: Carefully remove the orchid from its existing pot and gently loosen any compacted roots. Place the orchid in the new pot and add the potting mix around it, making sure that the roots are evenly covered.

  • Water the orchid: Water the orchid thoroughly until the water drains from the bottom of the pot. Orchids prefer to dry out slightly between waterings, so allow the potting mix to become dry to the touch before watering again.

  • Provide proper care: Orchids require a humid environment and moderate light to grow well. Place the orchid in a location with indirect sunlight and provide a humidifier or pebble tray to increase humidity. Fertilize the orchid every few weeks with a specially formulated orchid fertilizer.
