Product Description - Rose Claire Austin
The Rose 'Claire Austin' (Rosa 'Claire Austin', also known as Rosa 'AUSprior') is an exquisite English shrub rose bred by David Austin in 2007, renowned for its large, deeply cupped blooms in a soft, creamy white to pale lemon shade that exudes timeless romance and elegance. The fully double flowers, with 40–70 delicately arranged petals and an intense, myrrh-heavy fragrance with hints of vanilla and meadowsweet, open in generous clusters and bloom repeatedly from early summer through fall. Named after David Austin’s daughter, this versatile rose is perfect for mixed borders, rose gardens, or as a graceful climber on walls and trellises, offering both beauty and scent.
The plant grows to a height of 120–150 cm (4–5 feet) as a shrub or up to 225 cm (7.5 feet) when trained as a short climber, with a bushy spread of 90–120 cm. Its arching canes are adorned with glossy, mid-green foliage that shows good disease resistance. The blooms measure 8–10 cm in diameter and are ideal for cutting, with excellent vase life. 'Claire Austin' thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, fertile soil, benefiting from regular deadheading and pruning. Hardy in USDA zones 5–9, it is ideal for temperate gardens and attracts pollinators with its abundant, fragrant display.
