About Rose ‘Glauca’ – Ornamental Foliage Species Rose
Rose ‘Glauca’, also known as Rosa rubrifolia, is a graceful species rose admired as much for its striking foliage as for its delicate flowers. The small single blooms are soft pink with pale centres and appear in airy clusters during early summer. The true beauty of this rose lies in its elegant blue-grey leaves and reddish-purple stems, which provide season-long ornamental interest. Decorative red hips follow the flowers and attract birds and wildlife in autumn. Its natural, arching habit makes it perfect for informal gardens and mixed shrub borders.
How to Plant Rose ‘Glauca’?
Plant in a sunny or lightly shaded position with well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Allow generous spacing of 150–250 cm to accommodate its graceful arching growth habit. Water thoroughly after planting and maintain moderate moisture during establishment. Apply mulch annually to improve soil structure and conserve moisture. Minimal pruning is needed, mainly to remove damaged or overcrowded stems.
