About Rose ‘Hugonis’ – Early Blooming Yellow Species Rose
Rose ‘Hugonis’, also known as the Father Hugo rose, is a species rose admired for its early flowering and delicate single yellow blooms. The flowers appear in spring, often before many other roses begin to bloom, creating a bright and cheerful display. This variety has a graceful, arching growth habit and fine-textured foliage that adds elegance to the landscape. It is highly resilient and well suited to naturalistic plantings and large garden spaces. Its early bloom time and airy structure make it a unique addition to rose collections.
How to Plant Rose ‘Hugonis’?
Plant in a sunny or lightly shaded location with well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Allow generous spacing of 150–250 cm to accommodate its wide, arching growth. Water thoroughly after planting and maintain moderate moisture during establishment. Apply mulch annually to improve soil structure and retain moisture. Minimal pruning is required, as this rose flowers on old wood.
