Product Description - Lily (Lilium) Double Princess
Lily (Lilium) 'Double Princess' is a double-flowered Asiatic lily appreciated for its bright blooms and its neat, decorative look in summer plantings. The full, layered flowers add volume and texture, making the plant especially effective as a warm focal accent in borders and containers. In bouquets, it brings a cheerful pop of colour and combines easily with whites, soft pastels, and fresh green foliage for a clean, well-balanced arrangement. The double blooms give a lush, almost peony-like effect, adding a more “full” look than single-flowered lilies.
The plants typically reach 130 cm (51 inches) and produce medium-large flowers that open in early summer for a fresh seasonal display. 'Double Princess' performs well in full sun to partial shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil; avoid places where water stagnates after rain. For the best results, keep the soil evenly moist during active growth and add a light mulch to help stabilize moisture and keep roots cool in summer. Thanks to its upright habit and strong stems, it works well both in the garden and as a reliable cut flower for summer arrangements.

How to Plant - Lily (Lilium) Double Princess
Planting & Care Instructions
Lilies are elegant summer-flowering bulbs ideal for garden beds, borders, pots and cut flower arrangements. For the best flowering results, choose a suitable location and follow the recommended planting depth for high-quality bulbs.
- Planting time: Plant the bulbs in spring (March to May) or autumn (September to December). Flowering time generally occurs in summer, from June to July.
- Position & soil: Choose a sunny position or partial shade. Plant in rich, loose and well-drained soil. Avoid areas where water tends to collect.
- Planting depth & spacing: Place the bulbs with the pointed end facing upwards. For standard lily bulbs, size 14/16 cm (XL), plant approximately 12–15 cm deep and 20–30 cm apart.
- Watering: Water regularly during active growth and flowering, but avoid waterlogging. Ensure proper drainage to keep the bulbs healthy.
- Growing in containers: Use pots or balcony boxes with drainage holes and a rich, well-drained potting mix. Ensure containers are deep enough to accommodate root growth.
- After flowering: Remove faded flowers to prevent seed formation, but allow the stem and foliage to remain until they naturally turn yellow and die back. This allows the bulb to store energy for the next season.
- Returning each year: Lilies are winter-hardy perennials that naturally return and bloom year after year when left undisturbed in suitable growing conditions.
