Product Description - Garlic Germidour
Garlic 'Germidour' (Allium sativum var. sativum 'Germidour') is a popular French softneck garlic introduced in the 1990s, celebrated for its generous clusters of large, plump cloves (usually 10–14 per bulb) in a beautiful violet-streaked skin that holds its attractive appearance perfectly through storage. The easy-to-peel cloves deliver a pleasant, mild-to-medium flavour with a subtle sweetness and virtually no harsh aftertaste, making it ideal for everyday cooking, roasting whole, or eating raw in salads and aioli.
The plant forms vigorous, upright foliage growing to a height of 60–80 cm (24–31 inches) with a compact spread of 15–20 cm. Its strong root system and excellent resistance to bolting give reliable yields even in cooler, wetter summers. Ideal for autumn planting (October–December) in well-drained soil and full sun, it is ready to harvest when leaves yellow in June–July. Stores exceptionally well – up to 10–12 months when properly cured and kept cool and dry.
